Treatment prototype was presented on fourth General Assembly
The fourth General Assembly of SERPIC was held at the University Castilla – La Mancha in Ciudad Real on 28. and 29. April 2023.
During the assembly that was held as a hybrid meeting, Partner University Castilla – La Mancha (UCLM) from Ciudad Real, Spain, presented the fully assembled process chain to the consortium. Remaining issues were discussed and the degree of automation was determined. The participants visited the prototype plant that is installed in a greenhouse and the test pods that are being prepared nearby.
The consortium decided to start the field test earlier than planned already in June instead of August. This was possible because the prototype set-up runs faster than expected. The earlier start enables us to use the summer time before the holiday season to implement the first crop growth cycle. Carrots and potatoes are already seeded in cultivation pods. The irrigation system is being prepared, using a moisture sensor to control the amount of water. The existing PV system on top of the greenhouse and a battery will enable a fully grid-independent operation of the prototype.
